Penny Royal

Penny Royal is a type of mint and has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. It grows all over Greece and its flowers and leaves can be used.

Properties:

• Relieves the symptoms of colds or flu, helps with breathing and decongests the respiratory system and lungs. Its expectorant properties help remove mucus and phlegm.
• Improves digestive health and helps treat many stomach disorders, such as bloating, gas, stomach ache and stomach cramps. Improves liver function and enhances bile production and thus helps digestion.
• It has mild sedative properties and is used to fight hysteria, relax nerves and treats sleep disorders.
• Helps with rheumatism and arthritis because it neutralizes uric acid.
• Offers detoxification and lung cleansing to smokers.
• Ideal for kidney diseases, gallstones and liver dysfunction.
• Used to induce menstruation.
• Externally we make compresses to fight muscle pain, rheumatism, sciatica and joint pain.
• It has the property of acting as an insect repellent and repelling fleas, parasites, ants and mice.

How to use: Put 1 teaspoon in a cup of hot water for 6-8 minutes. Strain and add if you wish sugar, honey or any sweetener of your choice.

Caution! Do not consume during pregnancy or breastfeeding and by women with heavy bleeding during menstruation. Do not take in large doses for a long period of time.
