Description

Senna is a shrub with a height of half to two meters. It is cultivated in India and the countries around the Red Sea. The Latin name of the herb is Cassia Angustifolia.

Properties:

  • Effective in treating constipation, it acts quickly and does not irritate the intestine.
  • Helps digestion and movement of food in the intestine.
  • It has bactericidal and fungicidal action on the gastrointestinal tract.
  • It can be used before a colonoscopy.

How to use: Put 1 teaspoon in a cup of water and simmer for 8-10 minutes. Strain and add if you wish sugar, honey or any sweetener of your choice. It can be combined with anticonvulsant herbs such as ginger, fennel and anise.

Caution! Do not consume by people with intestinal obstruction (ileum) or with undiagnosed abdominal symptoms. Do not use often and for a long time. Its laxative effect usually appears after 6-8 hours.
