Description

Green cardamom is the most popular variety for both culinary and medical use. It is a rich source of vitamin A and C, magnesium, sodium, potassium, calcium, copper, iron and other micronutrients.

Its seeds are green or black, while their taste is slightly spicy and acidic, while maintaining a sweetness.

In confectionery it is used in buns, royal pies, in cinnamon rolls, in brownies, in chocolate muffins, in carrot cakes, but also in vanilla cookies, with chocolate or nuts.

In cooking it is used in baked chicken, meats, vegetable soups and grilled fish. It is a key ingredient in Indian spice blends.

Cardamom is deliciously combined with various other spices such as coriander, turmeric, ginger, pepper, paprika, chili, allspice and cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and Kozani yolk.

Properties:
  • It is detoxifying. It is the ideal ally in the elimination of accumulated toxins through the urine, while at the same time cleansing the kidneys.
  • It has anti-inflammatory action.
  • Helps digestion, heartburn, nausea and constipation.
  • It is anticoagulant as it naturally thins the blood, thus preventing the formation of clots in the veins and arteries.
  • Helps reduce high blood pressure.
  • It has diuretic properties and removes excess body fluids.
  • Helps treat the symptoms of flu, colds, coughs and bronchitis.
  • It kills the bacteria that cause bad breath and treats problems such as ulcers and infections of the mouth.
  • Used to fight depression.
  • Helps men with low libido, sexual impotence and erectile dysfunction.
How to use: In confectionery, usually ½-1 teaspoon of cardamom powder (about 8 ground seeds) per kilo of flour is used.
