The Goji berry plant has been known for centuries in China and Tibet. It has been used in Chinese medicine for over 2500 years for its beneficial properties.

The fresh fruits are bright orange-red and elliptical in shape 1–3-cm long and are very tender and soft. In order to be preserved, they are usually dried. Their taste is sweet like raisins.
